Project Based Management

At EVPM we believe that the project management methods employed should match the scale and the risks associated with the project. We never wheel out a set of inappropriate document templates in the hope that by filling them in, we will somehow solve your business problem. We focus on five areas, or responsibilities, of project management; they are:

  • The Quality required: no gold-plating or over-engineering, but fit for purpose, fit for the intended audience, capable of handling the work volumes and with a suitable lifespan.
  • The Budget available: strict cost control and recognition of the sources of value in the undertaking.
  • The Organisation: everyone involved in the project has specific tasks to complete in order to achieve the goals. We make sure we have the right people at the right time with the right instructions.
  • The Scope: we are very specific about the limits of the undertaking. No hidden agendas, no shifting sands, just moving with pace towards the objectives.
  • The Schedule: much of the value in any undertaking is in the timing of the delivery. Getting in early, being ready for the start of the season, replacing before a new period of maintenance charges are implemented and so on. We understand what must be done and when, then make sure that it happens.

Project Mangement

Appropriate Practice

It is during the Exploration and Discovery phases of the engagement that we will select the best and most appropriate tools and techniques for your specific project, based on our experiences with similar sized, valued or complex projects. By matching the project management tools and techniques to the particular initiative we can have significant impact on the level of success achieved while minimising the bureaucratic cost, hence our claim to Enhanced Value Project Management. The approach can be extended to routine or operational tasks such as maintenance programmes or replacement cycles which may not normally be considered as projects, hence our reference to Project Based Management.
